Statement from APTA and the Canadian Trucking Alliance
APTA and the Canadian Trucking Alliance are sending our deepest condolences to all those who lost their loved ones in yesterday’s tragic collision in Manitoba. We are praying for a full recovery of those in the hospital, and we send our thoughts and prayers to the families affected and the emergency responders on scene. The CTA and its member associations will refrain from making comments at this time. The CTA and its member associations strongly believe that now is not the time for speculation on the circumstances surrounding the tragic collision near Carberry, Manitoba. The investigators and first responders on the scene are professionals who need the support of everyone so they can do their job. As noted by the RCMP yesterday, it is important to take the time required to determine the facts.

Atlantic Canada’s Best Truck Drivers to be Crowned September 30
Masstown, NS – The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association in partnership with Commercial Safety College is pleased to host the Atlantic Driving Championship on Saturday, September 30, 2023, in Masstown, NS.
Close to 40 professional truck drivers from across the region will compete in the closed course competition, vying for top honours in two separate classes. Competition will be held in the 2-Axle (straight truck) and 5-axle (18-wheeler) divisions.
Also, back by popular demand is the management competition, which gives owners/managers from trucking companies who hold a valid Class 1 commercial driver's license, but do not currently drive truck, a chance to test their mettle on the course.
Competitors will also be required to complete a written test and perform a pre-trip inspection to identify any vehicle defects – something all professional truck drivers must complete every time they operate their rig.
The day-long event is open to the public and will also feature a charity barbecue with an awards banquet and silent auction following the day-long competition.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
Media is invited to attend the competition. Photos and a list of winners will be released following the event.
